Internship description:
“I’m interning at this company as an overseas sales representative and my main markets are: Latin America and the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa). However, I can do some prospective work in other parts of the world as well since I can communicate with them in their mother language.”
– Anas Aymen Mrabou, Moroccan –
The internship is divided into 3 main parts: Marketing, Sales and Logistics
1.1 Marketing: The intern looks for new prospective clients by using several methods. While the internet is still the main tool, since almost all business nowadays is made somehow via Internet, there are other ways. The goal is to help potential customers from all over the world to get to know the products and to understand their needs and enable them to profit from the special prices and delivery terms. “Meanwhile, I also work on a database for existing and potential customers, for following up all the opportunities and to enable my company to have a customer record for it’s future marketing campaigns.” – Anas Aymen Mrabou, Moroccan –
1.2 Sales: “You may think that as a salesmen, I’m just trying to close sales and that’s it! It’s true that this is my main goal! However there are still other steps to go for, before reaching this final step: Closing sales!” – Anas Aymen Mrabou, Moroccan –
The intern is continually trying to build relationships with their potential or existing customers, as this has a really great importance, especially in China. If the client won’t trust you, they might not continue communication with you and with the company. In this position, you are also an adviser; This means that customers can also just ask for your help without necessarily passing an order. This should be acceptable for you, as it helps to establish a “non-material” relationship with the client. And then again, the final goal should normally be for any case – to close the sale. Interns should possess the skills to negotiate and to give advise in order to set a fair price, service and quality for both parties – the company and the client.
1.3 Logistics: Once the order is fixed, the intern would proceed with the manufacturing, packaging, customs clearance and shipping procedure. As the shipping can be done by sea or air to almost every port in the world, you need to study the terms and conditions pretty well.
I hope this blog gave you got a general idea of how an internship with this company could look like; It is really diverse and when enough passion and dedication are shown, one could gain immense responsibility over tasks and learn a great deal – Just like Anas!
